One of the better free agent signings in recent history for the Lions, Glover Quin was the team’s starting strong safety or free safety for the past six seasons. Coming to the team via the Houston Texans, who drafted him in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of New Mexico, Quin has had his best seasons as a pro wearing the Lions uniform.

In fact, he has been a solid pro for this Detroit franchise, and has not missed a single game since coming to the team. A Pro Bowl player in 2014, when he led the NFL with seven interceptions, Quin has made good on the big contract the team signed him to heading into the 2013 NFL season.

That contract, which was a five-year deal worth over $23 million, included $6.25 million in guaranteed money. He immediately became the team’s starting strong safety alongside free safety Louis Delmas. Quin has become a leader in the Detroit community as well, and has certainly made his mark on the organization over the last six years.

In his six seasons with the team, Quin etched his name in team history, as his 19 interceptions are good for No. 18 overall. He has been a ballhawk during his time in the Motor City. While his production was down in 2018, he played with passion every time he stepped out onto the field.

The Lions released Quin in February, ending his run in the team’s defensive backfield. Still, when it comes to all the safeties that put on the Lions jersey in their team’s history, Quin has to be considered one of the best.
