The New Orleans Saints drafted Brett Perriman in the second round of the 1988 NFL Draft. He would spend three seasons with the team. In 1991, he made his way to the Motor City, becoming a key part in an offense that seemingly put the team in the playoffs every season he was with them.

Teaming with Herman Moore in the passing attack, the duo became one of the best in the business, setting all kinds of NFL records. They became the first teammates to haul in 100 receptions each in a single season, while also becoming the first to go over 1,400 yards in the same campaign as well.

For Perriman, his six-year run with the Lions were the highlight of his NFL career. He certainly filled up the stat sheet during his time with the organization. In six seasons, Perriman caught 428 balls for over 5,200 yards, while finding the end zone 25 times. He even ended his Lions career with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

Perriman, Moore and Barry Sanders keyed an offensive attack that led the Lions to two NFC Central titles and went to the playoff four times. The pinnacle of their run came early, as they made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game after the 1991 regular season, only to lose out to the eventual Super Bowl champion Washington Redskins.

The Perriman name still lives on in the NFL world, as his son Breshad Perriman is currently a member of the Cleveland Browns. Perriman was a special player for the Lions, and is by far one of their best free agent pickups of all-time.
