2019 NFL Draft: Sixth Round, 186th Overall

The Detroit Lions select …

Name: Bryce Love
Position: Running Back
School: Stanford
Height/Weight: 5-10, 202 pounds
2018 Stats: 739 rushing yards, 6tds – 20 recs, 99 yards
Draft Round Projection: 3-5 Rounds

Pick Analysis: Quality running backs can be found in the later rounds of the draft. The Denver Broncos found themselves a bonafide starter and Pro Bowler in Colorado’s Phillip Lindsay last year, and he went undrafted. Detroit needs a young running back to pair with budding superstar Kerryon Johnson, who has a long injury history.

The Lions find such a back in Stanford’s Bryce Love. In 2017, Love rushed for a ridiculous 2,118 yards and 19 touchdowns averaging 8.1 per carry. But he suffered an ACL injury last season and durability concerns plus his smaller build will likely have him tumbling down draft boards. In the sixth round, Detroit can afford to take a flier that Love, as part of a committee, will be able to stay healthy enough to contribute.
