2019 NFL Draft: Third Round, 88th Overall

The Detroit Lions select …

Name: Penny Hart
Position: Wide Receiver
School: Georgia State
Height/Weight: 5-8, 180
2018 Stats: 49 recs, 669 yards, 2 tds

Pick Analysis: When the Detroit Lions traded away veteran receiver Golden Tate last season, the passing offense in the Motor City deflated. The season-ending injury suffered by Marvin Jones Jr. didn’t help either. Although the Lions have possible replacements for Tate in T.J. Jones and Brandon Powell on the roster, Detroit could easily opt to find themselves an instant playmaker in the draft to strengthen this wide receiver corps.

Little-known Georgia State wide receiver Penny Hart shined during Senior Bowl practices and should be considered one of the top slot receivers in this draft class. His Junior season, Hart posted 74 receptions for 1,121 yards and eight touchdowns in 12 games, averaging a solid 15.1 yards per catch.

In Detroit, Hart would become the true successor to Tate, playing in the slot alongside Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay on the outside to create one of the top receiving corps in the NFL.
