2019 NFL Draft: Second Round, 43rd Overall

The Detroit Lions select …

Name: Chris Lindstrom
Position: Offensive Guard
School: Boston College
Height/Weight: 6-4, 310
Draft Round Projection: 2-3 Round

Pick Analysis: Regardless if Pro Bowl right guard T.J. Lang plays out his contract in Detroit or not, the Lions are going to need to shore up the position for the foreseeable future. The eighth overall selection is likely too high to do so, so the second round makes sense. General manager Bob Quinn has devoted several high picks to building the offensive line during his three seasons in the Motor City. Why stop now?

With Lang’s future unknown, adding a talented young guard like Boston College’s Chris Lindstrom makes a ton of sense here. Lindstrom might not “wow” you athletically, but he’s a consistent performer who will battle every play. He could be an instant starter for Detroit at right guard, but would benefit from learning from someone like Lang for a season as well.
