As with most NFL teams, the Detroit Lions are neck deep in the offseason. Let’s search the internet for the best headlines involving the Pride.

The Detroit Lions are looking to improve their roster in 2019. And with several needs on the wish list, now is the time to find the next generation of Motown stars. With the Senior Bowl having just been played over the weekend and the NFL Scouting Combine slated for late February, the Lions are researching hundreds of possible prospects to select in the upcoming NFL draft.

Below we’ll dive into some of the top stories concerning the Lions including a look at the Senior Bowl, a possible replacement for wide receiver Golden Tate, 2019 free agency and much more.

TWENTYMAN: 2019 Senior Bowl observations – DetroitLions.com

The Lions will undoubtedly be in the market to add a pass rusher or two in the draft regardless of what happens with pending free agent defensive end Ezekiel Ansah. And a name to watch that Tim Twentyman points out is Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat. He was simply the best pass rusher at the Senior Bowl and is seemingly climbing draft boards as we speak.

And don’t forget. The Lions are not afraid to take a late riser in the first round as evidenced by their selection of Arkansas center Frank Ragnow last year.

Lions could find Golden Tate’s replacement at Senior Bowl – The Detroit News

Although my favorite slot receiver coming out of this draft class is Andy Isabella out of UMass, Justin Rodgers highlights South Carolina’s Deebo Samuel as a possible Golden Tate replacement in 2019. Samuel has a very similar skill set to the Golden one, but he also has a troubling injury history. If he drops to the third round, Deebo could be one heck of a steal.

Lions 2018 rookie report card: How Ragnow, Johnson and other picks grade out – MLive.com

For me, both running back Kerryon Johnson and defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand get A-pluses. First round guard Frank Ragnow underwhelmed in his rookie season and it’s so hard to grade offensive lineman. And I liked what I saw from Tracy Walker when he was on the field but he still needs more experience.

Detroit Lions fans voted on team’s free agents. These are the results – Detroit Free Press

These votes are about what you’d expect. The only exception I would vote against is on wide receiver Bruce Ellington. I liked what I saw from him in limited action. I think it was enough to take a flier on the veteran wideout for another season.

Sean McVay once beat out Calvin Johnson for Georgia HS player of the year – MLive.com

Finally, this is an interesting tidbit that seems unbelievable. Sean McVay is seen as a young football genius who is heading to his first Super Bowl as a head coach. How could he ever compete with an athletic wonder like Megatron??? Well, being the quarterback of the state championship team helped.
