PROJECTED TRADE #3

Analysis: If Patrick Peterson isn’t an option for Detroit, then the Lions must search for a young, but talented cornerback whom they believe still has the potential to be a quality starter in the NFL. That player very well may be former first-rounder Gareon Conley.

Selected 24th overall by the Oakland Raiders in 2017, the ultra-talented Conley dropped in the draft due to sexual assault allegations that a grand jury later decided not to indict him on. Slowed by a shin injury his first season that limited him to just two games, the 23-year old bounced back to establish himself as one of the best young cover corners in the league last year.

Conley posted 37 total tackles, 15 pass defends, three interceptions and had one defensive touchdown in 14 starts in 2018.

Under new head coach Jon Gruden, the Raiders hosted a fire sale last season trading away big names like pass rusher Khalil Mack and Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper. It isn’t a big stretch to imagine a young corner like Conley, whom Gruden didn’t draft himself, could be had for the right draft capital.
