Although their regular season just finished on Sunday, we now know who the Detroit Lions will be facing off against in 2019. Let’s review their opponents.

The Detroit Lions finished their 2018 regular season with a record of 6-10. They were the worst team in their division, the NFC North, with the 6-9-1 Green Bay Packers being only fractionally better.

Although fans would surely trade that record for another winning season, Detroit’s poor performance should help them rebound in 2019. Their 6-10 record has earned them the eighth overall selection in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. And the Lions will pick high in every following round as well.

But being in the basement of the NFC North also means Detroit should face an easier schedule of opponents in 2019. Although last year’s chump can quickly become next year’s champ, so the term “easier” is relative.

Although the regular season just wrapped up on Sunday, we now know which teams the Lions will face off against in 2019. We also know who they will play at Ford Field and where they’ll travel, but we don’t have the exact dates and times yet. That isn’t determined until well into the offseason.

Obviously, six of the Lions games will be against divisional opponents. Those being the aforementioned Packers, the 8-7-1 Minnesota Vikings, and the 12-4 Chicago Bears. The other ten contests will be split into five home and five away games.

Detroit is scheduled to face off against the teams of the AFC West and the NFC East in 2019. That means home games against the 12-4 Kansas City Chiefs, 12-4 Los Angeles Chargers, 10-6 Dallas Cowboys and the 5-11 New York Giants in Ford Field.

The Lions will take to the road to face off against the 9-7 Philadelphia Eagles, 7-9 Washington Redskins, 6-10 Denver Broncos, and the 4-12 Oakland Raiders.

The final two opponents the Detroit Lions will face is determined by divisional ranking. With the Lions being the worst team in the NFC North, they’ll face the worst teams of the NFC South and NFC West. Those teams are the 5-11 Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the 3-13 Arizona Cardinals. Detroit will travel to Arizona while the Bucs will come to Ford Field to face the Pride in 2019.
