Detroit Lions Round 1

Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio St., 6-2, 220, 4.59

The Lions would be in perfect position to beat anyone else to the only quarterback who could go early in the first round, Dwayne Haskins of Ohio State. Rob Rang, a writer for NFL Draft Scout, has Haskins listed as the number nine prospect on his big board. Herbert is ranked at #13 but the list has not been updated since Wednesday.

Haskins is a pro-style quarterback who rewrote every single-season mark at Ohio State in his only year as the full-time starter. Haskins is a natural leader, has good touch, good arm strength, and makes good decisions. He always seems under control and poised.

Perhaps pick five is a bit early but both Jacksonville and New York will both be eyeing Haskins at picks eight and nine, respectively.

Side note: Haskins has not declared for the draft as of today but is expected to do so after the Rose Bowl. Jarrett Stidham, Auburn, is the only underclassman to declare so far.
