Now that the playoffs are out of the question for the Detroit Lions, is there still something worth playing for? Here’s why I still want them to win.

Disappointed yet again are Detroit Lions fans. Postseason aspirations are now officially over. Where do they go from here?

This ultra-conservative offense is almost making it blatantly obvious the Lions aren’t trying to win. Defensively, they’re getting tons of reps and faring quite well, which is good for the long run.

Perhaps having a higher draft pick is the objective. Can’t blame the organization for trying to accomplish that goal but the players don’t buy into that garbage. The coaches are the ones ultimately pulling the strings so how things shake out is a mystery.

Myself personally, I want to see wins. If I’m watching them play, it’s not to see Detroit lose. Period. I’ll take any draft position because making the right selection is more important than where you pick.

As far as personnel decisions, there are a few things I think the Lions should do in what feels like preseason all over again. Mostly on offense.

Getting the tight ends more involved is the biggest thing, Luke Willson in particular. Levine Toilolo has cashed in more frequently as the pass catcher but only because his blocking isn’t as good as his teammate. If Detroit will rarely throw it beyond the first down marker, might as feed them too.

More importantly, the Lions need to run the ball, a lot. Running back Zach Zenner is the best healthy horse in the stable and it’s not close. The emphasis in the ground attack will also benefit quarterback Matthew Stafford who is playing with a back ailment.

Defensively, I’m good with where things are mostly. I’d prefer to see more of cornerback Teez Tabor considering the second round investment. Defensive end Kerry Hyder getting more snaps would bring back old memories but hopefully prove he’s returned closer to his pre-injury form.

I don’t need to get too carried away with much else, I want to hear more from the masses. What do you want to see from the Detroit Lions in the last two games?
