The Detroit Lions will try to keep their slim playoff hopes alive as they travel east to face the similarly struggling Buffalo Bills at home.
The Detroit Lions are coming off a solid win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 14. Unfortunately, the victory did little to improve their postseason chances as the Lions have a record of just 5-8. According to makenflplayoffs.com, Detroit has less than a 2.2 percent chance of earning themselves a playoff berth.
Working in the Lions’ favor is the fact their next three opponents currently possess a record of .500 or worse. This weekend, Detroit will travel east to face the 4-9 Buffalo Bills, whom themselves have already been eliminated from playoff contention.
The Bills have a record of 2-4 at home in New Era Field and have lost six out of their last eight games. Buffalo is coming off a 27-23 home loss to the 4-9 New York Jets.
The Lions defense may have their hands full on Sunday as the Bills do field a top-ten rushing offense, although their starting running back LeSean McCoy is questionable for this matchup due to a hamstring injury.
Detroit has some pressing injury issues of their own as quarterback Matthew Stafford is once again considered questionable to play due to a lingering back injury.
