The Detroit Lions will head down south to Arizona to face a Cardinals’ club that appears to be struggling more then the Motor City is in a Week 14 matchup.
There aren’t many teams in the NFL that are struggling more than the 4-8 Detroit Lions have this season. But one of them is certainly the 3-9 Arizona Cardinals.
The Lions have lost five of their last six contests after posting solid wins over the New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers. As for the Cardinals, they have lost three out of their last four although the team is coming off a surprising victory over the Packers in Week 13. Green Bay immediately fired their longtime head coach, Mike McCarthy, following the loss.
For Detroit, their season has really been defined by two factors. Those being the learning curve of a first-time head coach in Matt Patricia and injuries. Patricia has shown great promise with some surprising victories against quality teams during his rookie year. But Motown has also failed to match the success the team had under former head coach Jim Caldwell.
Finally, injuries have played a big part in the Lions underwhelming performance this season. Against the Cardinals this Sunday, seven players were listed as questionable for this matchup on their final injury report. One of them being quarterback Matthew Stafford (back).
