The Detroit Lions are up against the high flying Los Angeles Rams this week. Here are some bold predictions for the game tomorrow.

Offense

Last week, against the Chicago Bears and their second-ranked run defense, Detroit Lions running back LeGarrette Blount ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns. This week, Blount will be running against a bottom of the league Los Angeles Rams run defense ranked 21st.

The Rams offense is high-scoring, to say the least, so Detroit should be trying to figure out a way to keep them off the field as long as possible. The best way to do that is to keep their own offense on the field for as long as possible each of their possessions.

Choosing to feed Blount the football is the best solution to keeping the Rams’ offense on the sidelines. Attacking through the air against this Rams defense will be harder to induce damage than if Motown sticks to a run-first game plan. The Rams feature many talented defensive backs such as cornerbacks Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib and safety John Johnson.

Also, after starting off the season well in pass protection, we have seen that part of the offense fail more often than not as of late, including an atrocious 10 sack game against the Minnesota Vikings earlier this year. Motor City would have to effectively block the likes of Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh, and Dante Fowler, among others.

The goal for the Lions should be to control the time of possession and limit the amount of time the Rams offense has on the field and the best way to do this is to feed Blount the ball. If they choose to go that route I think we could see Blount have his best game of the year.

Prediction: Blount runs over the Rams defense for over 125 yards and three touchdowns, stunning the Rams defense and Lions fans everywhere!
