Will the Detroit Lions newest addition help them overcome their biggest weakness against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday?

The Detroit Lions made a season-altering trade this past week. The Motor City sent a 2019 fifth-round selection to the New York Giants in exchange for All-Pro defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison.

One of the league’s top run-stuffers arrives in Motown just in time to face off against the Seattle Seahawks. That is if Harrison can get up to speed in time. We’ll cover that and more in today’s version of headlines.

The Lions have struggled against the run all season. And running the football is exactly what the Seahawks want to do in Detroit this Sunday. But the presence of Harrison could shift things into Detroit’s favor. If Snacks can conquer the playbook in time, he could do some damage for the Lions.

Make no mistake, this contest is going to be all about running the football. The Lions must continue to field a balanced offense, where rookie running back Kerryon Johnson and veteran back LeGarrette Blount can help Detroit win the time of possession battle. Defensively, the Lions defense must defend the run better. Having Harrison on the field could be key.

Questions still abound about whether premier pass rusher Ezekiel Ansah will play or not on Sunday as he continues to deal with a shoulder injury that’s sidelined him since Week One. Already ruled out for this contest is running back Theo Riddick, who will miss his second-straight game with a knee injury.

This one is a bit of a head-scratcher. I think most fans believed Johnson was the best running back in Detroit the day he was drafted in the second round out of Auburn. In the above article, it indicates the team didn’t realize it until the preseason. Guess they were the last ones to know.
