During his three-year tenure as the general manager of the Detroit Lions, Bob Quinn is continuing to prove his worth with every move he makes.
On Wednesday, the Detroit Lions made a terrific trade to improve the interior of their defensive line. The Lions sent a 2019 fifth-round selection to the New York Giants in exchange for All-Pro defensive tackle Damon Harrison.
The seventh-year defender, who is also lovingly known as “Snacks”, is a 6-foot-3, 355 pound run-stopper. The Lions’ defense has been terrible against the run this season, ranking 30th in the league in that category, allowing 139.3 yards on the ground per contest. Harrison’s presence along the interior of Detroit’s defensive line should improve the Lions’ run defense moving forward.
The acquisition of Harrison is being universally applauded as yet another great move by general manager Bob Quinn and this Lions’ front office. For Quinn, it just the latest in a series of moves that has put the Motor City in position to have unprecedented success. Although it has yet to lead to a single postseason victory.
Quinn become the Lions general manager in January of 2016 after spending 15 years as a member of the New England Patriots organization. Since taking over the front office, Quinn has been at the heart of some of the best free agent signings and draft classes in franchise history.
It started in early 2016 as Quinn was tasked with replacing Lions’ legendary wide receiver Calvin Johnson. The six-time Pro Bowler decided to retire a mere two months after the young GM was hired. Three days after Megatron’s retirement, the Lions announced the signing of free agent wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr.
During his three-year tenure, Bob Quinn has made some impressive moves. From the signing of free agents like Pro Bowl offensive guard T.J. Lang and linebacker Devon Kennard, to the drafting of running back Kerryon Johnson and wide receiver Kenny Golladay, to this week’s trade for Snacks Harrison; Quinn continues to string together impressive front office moves that have this franchise trending upward.
