Detroit Lions must watch out for this Patriots’ sleeper
#4. Who is one relatively unknown player that will surprise Detroit fans on Sunday?
MF: As a former first rounder, Phillip Dorsett has flown under the radar. The Patriots acquired him in 2017 from the Indianapolis Colts and he has quietly worked hard and earned his spot in the lineup. His role grew throughout the 2017 season as he learned the playbook.
He came into the offseason on the roster bubble, but quickly put those rumors to rest with a strong offseason. With Julian Edelman suspended the first four games of the season, Dorsett has fully taken advantage.
Through two games, he has been targeted 14 times, catching 12 passes for 110 yards and one touchdown. With so much attention being given to other pass catchers, Dorsett flies under the radar but has been a saving grace for New England this season.
#5. What’s your prediction for the upcoming game and score?
MF: Both teams are struggling right now defensively, so a high scoring game is probably on the way. With their season essentially on the line, the Lions will come out with a lot of energy and ready to play. Having the home crowd behind them will also help.
However, taking the Patriots down in primetime in front of a national audience is easier said than done. If people believed that the Jets knew what was coming, imagine what Patricia’s old employer will know about what is coming.
The Lions will fight hard and have a better performance than their first primetime game at home in Week 1, but they will fall to 0-3 on the season, with any worries in New England being quieted, at least for one week. Patriots defeat the Lions 31-27 as a late-game comeback attempt falls short.
