After very poor play during the exhibition season, the Detroit Lions followed suit in their opener against the Jets. Is this problem all Patricia’s fault?
The Detroit Lions opened the regular season on Monday Night Football against the re-building New York Jets, who started a rookie quarterback, then promptly and shamelessly hammered their Motor City hosts.
It was painful and embarrassing. Quite frankly it has to make any self-respecting Lions fan want to find some other hobby that can actually bring joy and fulfillment to their life rather than watch yet another incantation of poor play from this franchise.
So I left town for a weekend getaway from the rigors of Detroit Lions football by heading over to the western side of the state and enjoying a little time on the shores of Lake Michigan and the congenial locals who call that their home.
I found myself to be in good spirits as I enjoyed the leisurely breeze as well as the sights and sounds of all the boats on the lake going about their business. That was when the thought popped into my head that perhaps there are more positive ways to live ones life instead of following a franchise that just can’t get out of it’s own way.
Let’s think about it for a minute, the city of Detroit harbors four major professional sports franchises and all of them rank somewhere between bad and awful right now.
That’s not much of a life for the loyal sports fans in the Motor City.
In the case of the Detroit Lions, everyone thinks it’s either a problem with Patricia’s ability to coach or the belief this team is not buying into his system. Here’s my question; even if the players aren’t happy with their new coaching regime, isn’t it still their responsibility to do their job and execute their assignments to the best of their abilities?
