The Detroit Lions will attempt to bounce back after a devastating opening week loss, heading to San Francisco to face off against the 49ers.
The Detroit Lions took it on the collective chin in Week One, getting unexpectedly blown out in the regular season home opener by the lowly New York Jets, 48-17, in Ford Field. And the talk swirling around the Motor City is about new head coach Matt Patricia and his relationship with his players.
But winning cures all ills in the NFL. And if the Lions are able to get a tough road win against an up and coming Niners team, worries about Patricia’s early woes will be placed on the back burner. And another blowout loss will only add a megaphone to the negative voices from Week One.
The 49ers kicked off their season losing to the Vikings in Minnesota, 24-16. San Francisco quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo struggled in the matchup, completing just 15 of his 33 passes for 261 yards, one touchdown and a whopping three interceptions. The Lions secondary should play well against Garoppolo as they recorded 32 takeaways last season, third highest total in the NFL.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford needs a bounce back game following his 27 of 46, 286 yards, one touchdown, four interception performance against the Jets Monday night.
