Excuses aren’t acceptable if you’re trying to be a winning franchise. The Detroit Lions need to raise the bar and not allow mediocrity.

Many fans of the Detroit Lions witnessed their worst loss ever. The underdog New York Jets showed the nation on Monday Night Football they came to play.

NFL Kickoff week is always highly anticipated. After the piss poor performance the Lions gave, the end of the season looked like it came at the conclusion of their Week 1 matchup.

It’s redundant to go over how terrible Detroit played. All three phases got dismantled by a team that most considered inferior entering the contest.

Try and rationalize it however you want, but the Lions aren’t well off. One game isn’t reason to cause panic. What is a concern is the rumors circulating after the game.

Sources close to the team said some of the Detroit veterans aren’t enjoying how tight of a ship their new head coach Matt Patricia is running. How they gave up and lost in their home opener sent a clear message to this staff.

Top dog running the show is Bob Quinn. Since hired in 2016 as general manager, he’s gotten pass after pass. This is the year we can judge him, and based off his body of work, he’s got little to show for it.

I’m not the impatient type nor am I quick to overreact, but I can’t ignore the botched mistakes. My instincts serve me right more times than not. I believe if things don’t improve quickly, this franchise could suffer a setback the likes of which we haven’t seen since 2012. That season, the Lions went 4-12.

Every coach needs to step up their game, and because of them, Detroit is suffering. The general manager deserves much blame as he needs to start making better signings in free agency and smarter draft decisions.

The Patriot Way isn’t the only way to win. The sooner these ex-New England Patriots realize this isn’t Foxborough, the better. So far, it has proven to be anything but successful.

You give someone a yard and they’ll take another 99. The Detroit Lions are better than this, and as a fan base that wants more, you need to demand and expect it. 15 games remain, who knows what’ll happen.
