Detroit Lions vs. New York Jets: Game time, stream, channel and more
The Detroit Lions are set to take on the New York Jets in their regular season home opener. Here’s the information you’ll need to enjoy the game.
The Detroit Lions are ready to kick off the regular season. Their first matchup will be against the New York Jets at Ford Field on Monday night. The Lions are coming off a disappointing 9-7 season where they failed to make the playoffs.
This offseason, Detroit fired their head coach, Jim Caldwell, despite posting winning records three times and recording two postseason appearances during his four-year tenure in the Motor City. In his place, the Lions hired longtime New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia. The Week One matchup against the Jets will be the first-time head coach’s debut.
The Jets are coming off two-back-to-back 5-11 seasons. That after posting a 10-6 campaign in 2016. During this year’s draft, New York traded up to the third overall selection in the first round to pick USC quarterback Sam Darnold. The 21-year old has been named the starting quarterback and will face the Lions’ revamped defense on Monday Night Football on ESPN.
For the Motor City, this game is the official start of the Matt Patricia era in Detroit.
