As we prepare for the Detroit Lions to open training camp tomorrow, what are the all-important keys that will allow them to return to the playoffs?

The Detroit Lions, like the rest of the NFL, are getting ready to open training camp. They are also having championship dreams like the rest of the league as well.

Like any season in any sport, there will truly be only one team that is happy when it is all over. Only one team can hoist the trophy that proclaims them to be world champions and everyone else will continue to dream.

For the Lions, that dream has turned into a 60-year nightmare.

Now realistically there are truly only a handful of teams that can say they are serious title contenders. Every team is either pretty much ready to win or building towards contention.

The Lions have seemingly been rebuilding since 1957. Along the way there have been some glimpses of hope that have led to fans taking to the streets to proclaim ‘this is the year’, but in the end it has always been fools gold, leading the loyal followers of the Honolulu, Silver and Blue wonder if this curse will ever be broken.

This leads us to the question most Lions fans are wondering today; are these Lions finally ready to contend?

The answer isn’t as simple as the question. There are many keys to the Lions success that will need to play out in their favor since they do not have a dominating roster overflowing with talent and championship experience.

With that in mind, we will examine the 10 keys for the Lions to return to the playoffs this year and even make a little noise as well. Five of those keys pertain to the Lions offense and the other half is all about the defense.
