If the Lions’ running back room is crowded, then the wide receiver room is definitely overflowing with personnel fighting for a roster spot. Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, Kenny Golladay, and TJ Jones all virtually have their spots locked in.

Depending on how the dreaded “cut day” goes, as many as six aspiring wideouts could be sent packing.

With all of the chatter about Detroit having one of the deepest and best wide receiving corps in the NFL, it will take a herculean effort in camp from guys like Redding or Alexander to guarantee themselves a spot on the team.

I know it is somewhat blasphemous for me to even consider this, but the Detroit Lions receiving game really hasn’t been as terrible as everyone initially thought after Calvin Johnson’s retirement after the 2015 season.

2018 will be an opportunity for the receivers to continue to build upon what they’ve already established.
