The Detroit Lions sophomore wide receiver Kenny Golladay is putting in the extra work so the team can reap the rewards of his talents.

The Detroit Lions wide receiver position is in pretty good shape heading into the 2018 season with lead receivers Golden Tate and Marvin Jones entrenched in their starting roles and T.J. Jones returning after signing a new contract.

And of course, the player it’s easy for Lions fans to get excited about, Kenny Golladay, is training hard to have a breakout season during in Year Two.

The sheer potential and skill that Golladay showed last season is enough to set some high expectations for his play this season.

Of course, fans still need to keep things in perspective. He’s the third wide receiver in this group and other receiving options out of the backfield as well as tight ends need to be considered within these expectations.

This offseason, though, there has been a lot of good news coming out of the Lions’ practice sessions. Golladay has been putting in extra effort and taking every opportunity to make himself better.

"“During a special teams portion of practice, [Golladay] and Marvin Jones were off to the side catching tennis balls from a ball shooter machine,” said Tim Twentyman via the team’s official website. “Later on … Golladay pulled a team assistant aside and had him throw balls to him along the sideline as he worked on getting both feet down.”"

That’s great news for this Lions team. A player with high expectations is using every opportunity in practice to make himself better. If anything, it means he’s aware of his skills and he’s got his eyes on improvement and success. It’s something every team hopes of their players.

Having talent and skill are great assets. Having the drive and determination to get better and succeed is what keeps players at their best. That’s why this is great news today. Golladay isn’t sitting on his natural ability. He’s trying to maximize it and set the bar higher. And he’s ultimately trying to make this Lions team better.

Putting Kenny Golladay on the field with Golden Tate and Marvin Jones in three wide receiver sets should certainly make for some favorable matchups this fall. If Golladay’s extra work improves his play this season, the young receiver should help skyrocket this passing offense to elite status. Detroit Lions fans only have to wait a few more months to see the talented trio in regular season action.
