THE CORNERBACKS

Defensive back DeShawn Shead has a great opportunity to win the starting job opposite all-pro Darius Slay. Shead also has versatility, as he played both corner and safety in Seattle.

On the wish-list at cornerback, it would be great to see Teez Tabor take the starting job. He was a second round pick in 2017, and did very little in his rookie campaign to impress.

Shead gives Tabor another year to keep learning the pro game. Don’t get me wrong, Tabor needs to contribute in 2018. However, the Detroit Lions may have an eye towards starting him in 2019 (if not late 2018).

Cornerback Jamal Agnew also needs to develop his game. However, Agnew’s contributions as a speedy punt and kick returner makes him a lock for the roster.

Meanwhile, cornerback Charles Washington is no lock to make the roster, as he sits fifth on depth chart. But Washington does have advantages over new rookie free agents. Sometimes one extra year can make all the difference.

If there is a spot available in the secondary, this fifth cornerback spot looks to be it. The safety position is much more locked-in with what players should make the roster.
