FULLBACK. player. 50. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. NICK BAWDEN. B. SAN DIEGO STATE

In fullback Nick Bawden, the Detroit Lions have found themselves a special team ace that should make an immediate impact in that phase of the game.

As a blocker, Bawden is a hammer who should pave the way for running backs LeGarrette Blount and Kerryon Johnson.

Last season, the Lions opted not to carry a fullback. As a result, Detroit finished dead last in rushing yardage.

The return of the fullback combined with an upgraded offensive line and the addition of two new, hard-nosed running backs means a return to smash-mouth football in the Motor City.

For a seventh round selection, in Bawden, the Lions found themselves a quality fullback who can be special on special teams. It’s a great value in the final round of the draft.
