RUNNING BACK

First Round Verdict – WAIT

Best bet is for the Detroit Lions to wait until “Day 2” to select a running back. Still running back Derrius Guice (LSU) might be hard to pass up in the first round. Georgia running backs Sony Michel and Nick Chubb also should be considered.

Guice, Michel, and Chubb make up the second tier behind running back Saquon Barkley (Penn State), who is a clear top five prospect. All three of these guys will likely be gone by mid-way through the second round.

Still, this entire draft has depth at running back, and someone should be available when Detroit picks at number 51 in the second round or number 82 in the third round. Those picks would be a better value at the running back position.
