The Detroit Lions draft starts at pick twenty. If you were running their six picks, what do you do? Let’s see what your options are. You’re the GM.

The NFL Annual Selection Meeting, aka the draft,  is just over three weeks away. As I write this, it is the topic dominating all football topics due to the proximity of the event.

We have looked at what the Detroit Lions may do starting with their twentieth pick in round one. After some research and simulations, I have a break-down of what the Lions can do in each round with realistic options. Let’s take a look at our six picks!

Willingness to move

As noted before, general manager, Bob Quinn, has made known his desire for more picks. It seems pretty obvious since the Lions are tied for the least amount of any team. So, at any point that happens during the draft, it would obviously change who’s available to us.

"“That’s something that’ll definitely be in the talks I’d say a week or two leading up to the draft, try to get more picks,” Quinn told the Detroit Free Press. “But it’s easier said than done.”"

The Lions have picks in every round but the sixth round, for now. The Lions roster needs are too numerous to be covered by six picks, especially given lack of team production in the run game and pass rush, to name a couple big issues.

In fact, it would be easier to name places that are “all good”, instead of discussing units in need of help. As we go through each pick one at a time, you’ll see what I mean.
