However, no matter how we played the numbers game, it didn’t add up as enough to offset a thin defensive line and the need for an experienced tight end that can help young Michael Roberts continue to learn without having to completely carry the position by himself.

More from SideLion Report

Without some answers to these questions Lions fans were ready to revolt in a rabid, foaming at the mouth diatribe that could cause even the most hardened of pirates or truckers to blush.

But like Guns n’ Roses said way back in the 80’s, … just a little patience…

Patience is a virtue and unfortunately one of the hardest to master, but for those who refused to blink, refused to doubt Bob Quinn or just plain old refused to think anything but the best about their beloved Lions, it is paying off.

On Wednesday the Lions added two more answers. The first was former Seattle Seahawks tight end Luke Willson, the ‘hometown’ product of Ontario, Canada who grew up a Lions fan. His presence will give Roberts a good mentor and could very well prove to be a hidden gem of a signing.

In Seattle he rode the bench behind Jimmy Graham and therefore was limited in his opportunities to contribute. He should have every chance in the world to contribute to the Lions immediately. With Golden Tate, Marvin Jones and young Kenny Golladay at receiver, Willson will have plenty of favorable match-ups as the attention will not be even remotely on him.

All that’s left is to see if we can figure out why Canadians apparently misspell the name ‘Willson’?
