Derrius Guice

Guice, a LSU product, widely considered the second player at his position. More of a power runner with good speed, Guice has prototype NFL size at 5-11, and just under 220. Derrius is said to run a 4.52 forty yard dash, but like almost all players, his initial burst, his ten yard split, and his position drills will show more of what he has to offer.

If I had to guess, based off of his physical stature, I would bet that he is a stronger than average prospect who will do well in vertical jump, broad jump, and bench press. NFL Draft Scout , Dane Brugler, compares him to Earl Campbell, even. High praise.

Although Guice is considered to be a fiery competitor and a load to bring down, his background may be cause for concern to some scouts as Brugler surmised in his evaluation of Guice. Apparently, after Guice’s father was killed, his brother has had multiple problems with the law.

Not only that, Derrius’ previous knee injury will warrant additional attention, as well.

Guice’s value is currently somewhere between the mid-first round and early in the second round. Of course, his value is not finished being set until after the Combine and pro days!
