The Detroit Lions and Ezekiel Ansah should part ways

A DIFFICULT CHOICE

It comes down to this: if there are any lingering questions about a player, then it is time move on without that player.

This especially applies to a player that will be paid at the high end of the NFL salary spectrum.

For the long-term health of the franchise, they may need to suffer without a talent like Ansah in 2018.

Honestly, I don’t see a future with the Detroit Lions because of his injuries. However, the real nail in the coffin was the Patricia hire because Ansah lacks adaptability.

Ansah certainly could move on to another team and do well, and that feels like a huge risk.

However, I think a change of scenery is Ansah’s best chance to do well. Another year in Detroit is likely to turn out as underwhelming.

If the Detroit Lions re-sign or tag Ansah, general manager Bob Quinn will be giving Ziggy an endorsement as a franchise pass rusher.

If that choice is made, I will cheer for it to go right. But if it goes wrong, re-signing Ezekiel Ansah in the Motor City could be a major misstep for the Detroit Lions.
