Detroit Lions mock drafts abound during this time of year. Some are spot on, some are way off. And now it’s my turn to jump into the fray!

The Detroit Lions need help at several spots headed into this year’s draft. The team’s areas of emphasis include running back, interior offensive line, and outside linebacker.

They also need to address the pass rush and how to stop the run as they work to towards fostering depth throughout the roster.

The Lions have areas to improve and six picks (for now) to use to fulfill their needs.

Both the general manager and head coach, Bob Quinn and Matt Patricia, have quite a bit of work to do and not a lot of time to do it in.

Thankfully for those two, I’m on the job!

Like most fans, I also double as an “armchair GM” and have great experience in putting together notional teams.

This is my first run at a mock draft and based off of Detroit’s needs, I have selected players that I think would fit the team best.

In the coming weeks, I will revisit this mock draft and see if the selections hold up or if I change my mind on any before the draft begins.
