Detroit Lions: 4 Senior Bowl draft candidates to watch
Who To Watch in the Senior Bowl
Offensive Tackle
I mentioned one Reese’s participant in my previous post about improving the offensive line entitled, “Lions New Year’s Resolution, fix the run game“, tackle Brandon Parker, North Carolina A&T. Since my post, his stock has him projected to go more in the second or third round, now.
At the time he was ranked as a fifth round prospect. I selected him based upon measurables, intangibles, and production. At 6’7″, 303 pounds he would fill both a hole at guard, but possibly give the Lions a third tackle who could fill-in for Taylor Decker should Decker get hurt again.
So, another participant that I like to fill that third tackle, and starting guard prospect, is Alex Cappa, from Humboldt Sate. At about 6’6″ and 299 pounds, Cappa offers size to play outside and the attitude to play inside. His current fourth to fifth round price tag would fit Detroit’s draft budget, too.
Dane Brugler, writer for NFL Draft Scout, stated in two posts covering the Senior Bowl practices, that Cappa was able to handle both fast and strong players who came from more well-known programs. He’s a guy I’ll be looking for.
