Detroit Lions final injury report: The Walking Dead
The Detroit Lions will basically be the Walking Dead when they face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 14, with several players questionable for the game.
Although the 6-6 Detroit Lions are still technically in the playoff hunt, many have already counted them out. Certainly a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend would all but seal their postseason fate.
With their season in mind, the Lions will likely need “all hands on deck” in order to defeat the Bucs at home considering Detroit is current amid a two-game losing skid, following defeats by the Minnesota Vikings and the Baltimore Ravens.
Unfortunately for the Motor City, their current roster looks more like a group of extras from The Walking Dead, with several prominent players peppering the team’s final injury report.
The biggest name being quarterback Matthew Stafford, who suffered an injury to his throwing hand in the Lions 44-20 blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13. Stafford is listed as questionable for the upcoming matchup although he was able to participate all week during practices on a limited basis.
If Stafford is unable to play, backup Jake Rudock would start in his place. Regardless of who is under center for Detroit, they could be running for their lives as three of the Lions’ five starters along their offensive line also appeared on the team’s final injury report.
Right tackle Ricky Wagner has already been ruled out for this pivotal contest due to an ankle injury. And both right guard T.J. Lang (foot) and center Travis Swanson (knee) have been listed as questionable.
Next: Replace Jim Caldwell or is more house cleaning needed?
Rounding out the Detroit Lions final injury report as questionable for the upcoming game are defensive end Ziggy Ansah (ankle), running back Ameer Abdullah (neck), defensive end Cornelius Washington (shoulder), offensive tackle Emmett Cleary (ankle), offensive tackle Corey Robinson (foot), cornerback/returner Jamal Agnew (knee) and punter Sam Martin (foot).
