The Detroit Lions nearly fell in a trap game against the winless Cleveland Browns on Sunday, but were still able to get the much-needed victory at home.

As rapper LL Cool J once explained: “Don’t call it a come back, I’ve been here for years!”

But a comeback is exactly what the Detroit Lions needed on Sunday, after being down early to the winless Cleveland Browns at Ford Field. The Week 10 matchup was much closer than most anticipated, with the Browns putting up 10 unanswered points to start the contest.

The Lions rebounded, posting 17 points in response and taking a seven point lead into halftime. But by the end of the third quarter, the game was tied 24-all.

The tide turned with a rib injury suffered by Browns starting quarterback DeShone Kizer in the third quarter. The rookie passer was able to return late in game, but ended up throwing a game-sealing interception to Lions cornerback Darius Slay. Detroit would end up winning the contest, 38-24.

Detroit’s fourth quarter comeback was once again led by quarterback Matthew Stafford. The NFL’s priciest passer threw for two touchdowns in the final frame to put the game away. Stafford ended the game completing 17 of his 26 passes for 249 yards, three scores and one interception.

Wide receiver Golden Tate, running back Theo Riddick and tight end Eric Ebron all recorded touchdown receptions. Tate led the team with six catches for 97 yards. Running back Ameer Abdullah rushed for 52 yards and a score on just 11 carries.

Defensively, linebacker Tahir Whitehead led the Lions with eight total tackles. Defensive end Cornelius Washington recorded two sacks in the contest. Safety Tavon Wilson and fellow defensive end Anthony Zettel both had one sack each.

Next: Lions should convert Jamal Agnew to wide receiver

The 5-4 Detroit Lions will travel to the Windy City in Week 11 to face a divisional rival, the Chicago Bears. That NFC North matchup is scheduled for next Sunday, November 19th at 1:00 p.m. ET.
