Here we are at the end of the week, again. It’s not a football day, and especially not a Detroit Lions football day. On Saturday, college football is on in my house; Sunday I enjoy pro ball.

I should say that I usually enjoy pro ball.

Last week I had a bad feeling about the Carolina game. Honestly, I’m not sure that I feel better this week.

I will give both my Same Old Lions and Kool-Aid spin on the 3-2 record, and what I expect to happen going forward. Here we go, Lions fans!

Same Old Lions (Why to feel pessimistic)

Recently, I tweeted to a Detroit beat writer that as a Lions fan, “I am two parts hopeful and one part pessimistic, or the opposite, all of the time.” He liked my reply, because it’s how many fans feel about our team.

Many fans simply cannot be comfortable with the Lions no matter what their record is. Lions fans have been burned by letting their guard down. Last Sunday was a perfect example.

The Lions are competing, that we can all agree on. They have lost two relatively tight ball games.

It’s how they lost that worries me, on top of some downward trends in production.

Let’s just say that I’m officially two parts pessimist, and only one part hope, today.
