There was limited tape on 5th round pick Joe Dahl out of Washington State but from what I’ve seen I wasn’t overly impressed. Saying that,  I was still happy with what I saw. He looks a stout run blocker but his pass blocking left some question marks. Though he more than likely won’t be asked to start at left tackle barring a bizarre series of events, he makes more sense as a guard or right tackle.

The problem he had with pass blocking is that he was continuously bull-rushed all too easily. At some points forcing the QB to slide right. This seems at odds with what I had heard about him, though with limited tape it is hard to give a complete evaluation of him.  He adds some quality depth to this offensive line and can play most of the positions across the offensive line depending on the circumstances.

With Warford and Reiff’s contracts soon coming to an end, Dahl may have a chance to impress thus giving the Lions the option not to extend one of their contracts.
