Russell Okung

The Lions could go one of two ways at this position. They can do the more likely option of selecting a left tackle in the first round of the NFL Draft. Or they can go with the best left tackle on the market in free agency. Or of course there is the option to do both.

Whatever the selection is, it’s major. The Lions must do something to both protect Matthew Stafford and finally fix a running game that hasn’t ranked higher than 17th since Barry Sanders retirement. Okung could be an immediate factor in that regard as he’s been on an offensive line that’s been opening up holes for Marshawn Lynch and Thomas Rawls the past few years/

The major issue here is that once Okung hits the market this summer, there will be teams lining up at his door to acquire his services. As well they should be for a 28-year-old Pro Bowl offensive lineman. This naturally will drive the cost up for Okung. If that’s not enough, how do you convince a guy that’s played in two Super Bowls to come to Detroit?

Look to the draft here folks. But if the Lions can scoop up Okung, it will be a major coup for them going into 2016.

Let’s get a little crazy again.
