It is hard to imagine a scenario that puts Haloti Ngata in a Lions uniform for the 2016 season. The injury to Tyrunn Walker leaves open the possibility that he could return at a discounted rate, but that remains to be seen. The Lions will more than likely take a defensive lineman with either their first or second round draft picks.

However, they need a veteran presence in the middle. Melton won’t cost the family farm.
