It is unknown, as of this date, if the Detroit Lions will be cleaning house this off-season. While the Lions are currently 1-6, rumors are swirling that there may be changes from top to bottom. It is hard to see a scenario where Jim Caldwell keeps his job. Either Caldwell will be dismissed by Lewand and Mayhew in order to save their jobs, or a new GM comes in and fires Caldwell themselves.

With the firing of offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, all signals indicate that the heat is on Caldwell. We look ahead at some potential coaching candidates. In general, the next head coach needs to be offensive minded and accomplished. The Detroit Lions are highly invested in their offense with their two biggest contracts being Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford. It only makes sense to look toward an offensive mind. However, don’t discount them hiring the right defensive minded coach.
