Even though the 2016 NFL Draft is very far away, it’s still useful to have a good understanding of some prospects the Detroit Lions could look at next year. The Lions are in good position to capitalize on a very talented 2016 draft class. Especially after the recent trade with the Seattle Seahawks for a 6th round pick in the 2016 draft.

Overthecap.com has predicted that the Lions will receive a 3rd round pick for Ndamukong Suh and a 5th round pick for Nick Fairley due to the NFL’s free agent compensation. That gives us a total of ten picks in the 2016 draft. It’s very unlikely that tem rookies would make the team with the depth the Lions have, so look for Martin Mayhew to be very active on draft day. He has a ton of ammo to move up in trades and has already shown a willingness to be aggressive in the past. With the amount of high level talent available in this draft the Lions are in a great position to solidify themselves as playoff contenders for the next couple years.
