You may be with me on this one. Or maybe you’re scratching your head.
Gone are the top three defensive tackles on the Detroit Lions roster of a year ago. Replacing them are veteran and former Pro Bowl selection Haloti Ngata, little known Tyrunn Walker, and Princeton graduate and second year pro, Caraun Reid.

Reid was with the Lions last season, but seen very little action on the field.
Walker appeared to be the early season favorite to line up beside Ngata on the defensive line once the regular season began — at least until about one month ago.
That’s because the four-year pro, who arguably has steadily improved each season in the NFL, has been overshadowed by the young, new-look Caraun Reid.
When Reid showed up at OTAs, it was evident that the young man had been hard at work from a physical standpoint. He appears to be in better shape than ever, and it was recently revealed that he has spent some time working out with former teammate Ndamukong Suh during the offseason.
Improved are both his burst off the ball, as well as his overall strength.
Reid will continue to have work to do however if he truly hopes to be a week one starter along side an All-Pro.
The time to shine for the seven players mentioned above is now just days away. Detroit Lions training camp will begin to show us what the roster is shaping up like for the upcoming season, and if you’re anything like me — you couldn’t be more excited!
