#2        Matthew Stafford – 2009 to current

You could make an argument that Matthew Stafford is the best quarterback in Detroit Lions franchise history.  He holds most franchise passing records including career yardage, touchdowns, quarterbacks rating, interception percentage and touchdown percentage.  Stafford also has more clutch ability than any other QB in Lions history with 17 game winning drives and 14 4th quarter comebacks.

After being selected first overall in the 2009 NFL Draft, Stafford struggled with injury early on in his career leading some to question whether he had the durability to have a successful NFL career.

Since last missing time in 2010 Stafford has started every game for four straight seasons setting season and career passing records along the way.

The only thing that has eluded Stafford in his career with Detroit is playoff success. The Lions have gone to the playoffs twice under Stafford in 2011 and 2014 both resulting in wildcard losses.

Stafford is clearly on track to be the best Lions quarterback of all-time but until he gets his team to its first ever Superbowl, he will sit behind Bobby Layne (and his two Championships) on this all-time list.
