Up until now, Bill Bentley’s career has been a disappointment. As one of the multiple corners selected be the Lions i their disappointing 2012 draft class. In fact, He’s the only corner left from that group. The reasoning behind that is that Bill Bentley is believed to have the potential to be a great starting nickel corner for the Lions.
But after 3 seasons Bentley has only appeared in 18 games and has notched 44 tackles and no interceptions. Which begs the question, where is this potential? Could Bill Bentley be Martin Mayhew’s last gasp at trying to pull succesful corner out of the Lions 2012 draft class? probably not. It’s more so Mayhew not knowing when to cut bait.
This season is Bill Bentley’s last chance in Detroit. In the last year of his contract, Bentley needs to show up and prove that he belongs n the NFL. If he cannot, it will seriously hurt his chances of finding work with another team in the NFL.
