1991 NFC Divisional Round
There is no doubt about the high point in Lions history of the past 50+ years and that was the win over the Cowboys in the Divisional Round of the 1991 season. The Lions earned a first round bye and a home game in the Divisional Round with a 12-4 regular season record that included a win over the Cowboys during the regular season. Despite that, Vegas tabbed the game as a pick ’em as both teams were thought of as young teams on the rise.
From the way the game played out, you’d never know that it would be the Cowboys who would go on to win multiple Super Bowls while this group of Lions wouldn’t win another playoff game. The Pontiac Silverdome was rocking all day long as the Lions jumped out to lead and never looked back. The Cowboys tried to keep it close with a pair of field goals to make it 14-6 in the second quarter but the Lions would score the game’s final 24 points to blow out the Cowboys 38-6.
