The Detroit Lions will face off against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday with a chance to go 2-0 on the season and perhaps start to regain some of the legitimacy they lost in 2012.

By this point, you’re surely back into the swing of the NFL schedule, where we do six days of hype and predictions followed by a few glorious hours of action. So I won’t bother you with my predictions, unless you go here.

Similarly, the biggest storylines going into this game are most likely played out at this point. Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush are explosive, Ndamukong Suh has a bad reputation, and so on. But there will be 45 men suited up to take the field against the Cardinals, and not all of them are major media stories.

Some of them, perhaps, should be. At the very least they’re worth your attention on Sunday. They’ll be the guys quietly deciding the way this game goes.
