Patrick Edwards

Despite a disappointing preseason for the second year in a row, Patrick Edwards has a stalwart supporter in Nate Burleson.

That’s great and all, and there’s no doubt Edwards has been an impressive practice player, but at some point, that has to translate to the playing field.

Through three preseason games, Edwards has four catches for 16 yards. Hardly an imposing stat line. It’s great to see potential, and it’s even better to show in practice. But if the Lions are ever going to take Edwards seriously as a major receiving target, he’s going to have to get it done in a game situation.

If he doesn’t, the Bills game might be the last game situation he sees.
