Appeal Denied: Ndamukong Suh Will Serve Two-Game Suspension

facebooktwitterreddit

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Ndamukong Suh’s appeal to reduce his suspension has been denied by the NFL.

"Ndamukong Suh will serve both games of his 2-game suspension. Appeal is denied."

This decision really isn’t surprising. He very clearly did purposefully stomp on an opponent in the Thanksgiving Day game. That was completely uncalled for, and it’s exactly the type of action that will always draw a multi-game suspension.

Some speculated that that Commissioner Roger Goodell’s encouragement of Suh to appeal the suspension was an indication that it would be reduced, but I never bought that theory. Goodell encouraged Suh to appeal, because that’s the process by which an unhappy player can get his punishment reviewed.

We all would have loved to see the penalty reduced to a single game, but I think we can also agree that a two-game suspension isn’t outrageous either.
