Top 5 Most Disappointing Lions Draft Picks of the 2000’s
By Josh Hill
1. Charles Rogers (2003, Rd. 1, Pick 2)
Not only is he the worst draft pick ever by the Lions, he’s in the top 5 of all-time worst picks of all teams.
The selection of Charles Rogers was a direct result of drafting Joey Harrington out of Oregon the year previous.
He had character issues coming out of Michigan State, but for Lions fans with hope in their hearts, nothing would be better than having an All-Pro wideout who is a home state boy.
Being drafted by the hometown Lions, Rogers was basically non-existent during his career. Not even the most die-hard of Lions faithful can reference a Charles Rogers moment in a Lions uniform. Most can cite his various run ins with the law and his mix up with drugs. He also couldn’t seem to keep his collarbone from breaking leading to him missing nearly two of his first full seasons.
With career stats that include a three year NFL career that saw him catch just 36 passes and 4 touchdowns, Rogers may be the worst draft pick in the history of the NFL.
