Lions Rumors: 4 trade targets linked to Detroit
By Ryan Heckman
4. Patrick Surtain, CB, Broncos
The third name mentioned by Robinson in connection with the Lions is another cornerback, only this one would be a much bigger 'get' than Donte Jackson. The Broncos could be blowing things up by the deadline, and cornerback Patrick Surtain is one of their most attractive options to be traded.
This year, Surtain has played 235 coverage snaps for one of the worst defenses in football. Yet, he's only given up one touchdown. That's a unit that's been on the field very often, and it's difficult playing at an elite level when the majority of guys in front of you aren't playing good ball. Still, Surtain remains one of the NFL's best cornerbacks and he is only 23 years old.
Giving this Lions defense a shut-down corner would be a big-time move. But, Detroit would likely have to choose between a player like Surtain or Brian Burns. They couldn't have both, unless the organization is fine parting with the next couple of years' draft capital altogether, because that's what it would take.
Surtain would not go for less than a first-round pick, I would assume. So, with all of that in mind, let's see what Detroit does in the next week.
