Lions' "Super Bowl window" is as open as anyone's

After losing narrowly to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, the Lions are easy to pin as a team to make (or even win) Super Bowl LIX. With a young roster, including two of Pro Football Focus' best non-quarterbacks under the age of 25, their proverbial "Super Bowl window" feels as open as any team's in the league.

Bucky Brooks of NFL Media has offered his ranking of the NFL's eight biggest Super Bowl windows right now. The Kansas City Chiefs are No. 1, naturally, with a couple choices that land as surprising (Cleveland Browns at No. 6, New York Jets at No. 8).

The Lions ranking might not be as surprising?

Brooks has them at No. 2.

"Dan Campbell has Detroit poised to take the next step as a title contender after guiding the Lions to the NFC Championship Game in his third season. Despite their epic meltdown on Championship Sunday, the Lions are set to return an experienced and resilient squad with a collection of blue-chip playmakers."

With what he said being right after that gut-wrenching loss to the 49ers as important context, Dan Campbell offered a harsh reality that the Lions may never get back to the NFC Championship Game. And to be truthful, "Super Bowl windows" can close very quickly. But the Lions seem equipped to not go away anytime soon, and Brooks' optimism about their window to be a top Super Bowl contender being so open is not his alone.
